How can we help you?
Scientific illustrations
We specialize in transforming your findings into customized scientific illustrations.
Eye-catching and informative figures will increase the visibility of your work and help the reader understand your research.
Whether you’d like to illustrate a mechanism of action, a methodology or a mechanistic pathway, we can help you!
Our scientific illustrations and figures are not just perfect for publications, but also for scientific posters, oral presentations, thesis, courses, grants, or websites and social media.
Just send us an idea of what you need on a simple sketch or on a PowerPoint slide, together with a short description, and we’ll do the rest!
Graphical abstracts
We create graphical abstracts that visually summarize your research and catch the reader’s attention.
You won’t need to spend your time explaining us every detail of your project. Our scientific research experience allows us to easily capture the essence of your paper. And thanks to our design skills, we know how to translate your findings into eye-catching visuals.
From an accurate visual summary for a research journal to a comic graphical abstract for a Twitter thread. We can create graphical abstracts in different styles and formats depending on your needs.
We only need an abstract of your research and a simple sketch with the main points of your work to get started.
Journal and thesis covers
Has a book ever caught your attention because of its cover? That’s exactly what we aim to do with our cover designs for journals and thesis.
Being featured on the front page of a journal is an excellent strategy to make your paper stand out from the rest.
After all those years of hard work during your PhD, what better way to end it than with a beautiful cover?
We think that perfect covers are characterized by having a good balance of art and science. That’s why our experience as scientists helps us to better understand your scientific story, and our artistic skills allow us to represent it beautifully.
Just show us some examples or ideas of what you have in mind and tell us a bit about your project, we’ll do the rest!
FAQs
How do we collaborate on a project?
Step 1: Contact us and request a quote. Contact us via email or using the contact form and tell us about your project. Please include as much information as you can to get the most accurate quote: project details, draft images, the purpose of your illustration, platform, audience, and deadlines.
We’ll answer you with an estimated budget for your project, without any commitment.
Step 2: Agreement. Once we agree on project needs, price, and timeline, we’ll start working on your project.
Step 3: Time to illustrate! You will receive the first draft on the agreed dates. If, at any point, we have questions, we’ll email you to make sure you get the best results.
Step 4: Feedback. We’ll adapt the first draft until you are completely satisfied with the final illustration. Changes are included in the initial budget as long as no major changes are made to the project scope. Feedback and edit requests are usually provided via email, but if you prefer, we can schedule a quick video call. This process typically takes only 1-2 edits before the final version is approved.
Step 5: Payment and final files. Once you’re completely satisfied with the result, we’ll send you the invoice and the final files in all the requested formats.
Will you keep my work confidential?
Absolutely! As scientists, we totally understand how crucial it is to keep your data, documents, and ideas your own. We’ll only show the final illustrations in our website and social media platforms once the work is published, and only if we have your consent.
Do you work with clients from all over the world?
Indeed! While we are located in Barcelona (Spain) and Basel (Switzerland), we work online with clients from all over the world. We typically communicate with our clients via email during the entire process, but we can also schedule a quick video call.
How long it takes?
We’ll start working on your project once we agree on project needs, price, and timeline. Assuming quick reviews and approvals on your end, average production/process time is typically:
5-7 business days for scientific illustrations
5-10 business days for graphical abstracts
10-20 business days for art covers
Please note that this may vary depending on the number of ongoing projects.
How much does it cost?
The final cost of an illustration depends on the complexity of the project, level of details and style, number of figures and the time spent doing research, reading and looking for additional information.
For reference, the starting price is €250 for a small scientific illustration, €350 for a graphical abstract and €600 for a cover. We offer discounts for bulk orders.
To receive an accurate quote for free, please contact us via email (hi@catalyzingscience.com) or using the contact form and tell us about your project and deadlines. For big projects, we may ask that you provide a deposit before we start working on your illustrations.
What payment methods do you take?
Once the project is finished, you will receive an invoice which you can pay via bank transfer.
